Lucy's story
Lucy was only 17 when she was referred to Transform Housing & Support. There was a lot of tension between Lucy and her parents and eventually she felt she could no longer continue living with her family. She started staying at friends' houses to get away from the situation at home.
"I felt I had no future. I was very depressed and felt like no-one cared about what I was going through."
Lucy moved into a room in one of Transform's properties in Staines. She received support from her keyworker to help her deal with some of the issues she was facing. This included advice on practical issues such as budgeting, support to prepare for and attend appointments. With Transform’s support, Lucy's confidence gradually improved.
"I went back into education and am now in my second year of a part-time university course. I made new friends and learnt to be more independent. I am doing a work placement as a youth worker, which I want to continue doing. Eventually I'd like to work alongside the police force, for example in child protection.
"I honestly don't know where I'd be now without the help Transform has given me. It's helped me realise there is a future."
