Last year Jackie (pictired right) and Gill (left) from our East Surrey team set up a very successful food bank at one of our properties in Crawley. They receive donations from different places and are able to provide small food parcels to their clients.
Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, more and more of our clients have been in need of this vital service. Jackie approached FareShare to arrange a food delivery on a regular basis so they could keep their stores stocked up. She was very pleased that they were able to set up this arrangement but was completely overwhelmed when she heard just the night before how much was being delivered!
Thanks to the help of other Transform colleagues, we were to accept the delivery and share the generous donation even further. There will now be a completely free, weekly delivery running until June.
Jackie said she had been really excited to see such a large delivery as they hadn’t had enough supplies to be able to support clients throughout Transform before. “One of our colleagues from the council – who runs hostels where many of our Crawley clients are based – has this time been able to deliver food parcels right across the area, including fresh fruit and veg supplies,” she added. “This makes a lovely change as we mostly provide tins and packets within our deliveries. It is wonderful to feel that we can make a bit of a difference at such a difficult time.”
Director of Assets and New Business Andrea Cannon was also quick to congratulate Jackie for her effort and persistence. “This is a great resource for all of Transform’s clients in these challenging circumstances,” she said.
