The journey to net carbon-zero and new building safety regulations post-Grenfell are among key priorities, says leading real estate professional and new Transform trustee

Transform has appointed property development expert Natalia Kolotneva as a new trustee on its board.

Ms Kolotneva said that as a former Surrey resident and University of Surrey alumna, she was delighted to have joined Transform as a trustee.

“I feel strongly about making a difference to people’s lives within the community,” she added.

Financial and sustainable growth for Transform’s housing portfolio and support services would be a key organisational challenge during her tenure, Ms Kolotneva said.

There would also be a number of priorities within property stock rationalisation, she explained, including ensuring building safety following regulatory changes, establishing a clear roadmap to decarbonisation, and meeting the expectations of the Social Housing White Paper.

“The challenges are greater than ever but so are the opportunities for Transform to deliver its strategic objectives and commitments to serve its client groups,” she explained. “As a board trustee, I must also mention our immediate focus on the strong and robust governance of Transform, which underpins the success of our strategic objectives.”

Ms Kolotneva is a leading real estate professional with more than 15 years’ experience within property investment and development, having previously worked in leadership positions across both the public and private sectors. Originally qualifying as a commercial property surveyor on the hotel consultancy side, she has dedicated most of her executive career to working within property development and asset management for leading global institutional investors.

In the past seven years, she has been actively involved within the supported living sector and the wider affordable housing arena, funding housing projects and working in partnership with local authorities, housing associations and registered providers.

“Transform is a reputable organisation which delivers safe homes and well-needed support, and I am looking forward to contributing to its objectives with my property skills and knowledge,” Ms Kolotneva said.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Transform Mark Austen welcomed Ms Kolotneva’s appointment saying she brought great expertise in the acquisition and management of property from both a portfolio and a practical level.

“I am sure Natalia will play a large part in helping Transform over coming years to ensure our inventory is both fit for the future and that it addresses the challenge posed by the Net Zero target,” he said.
