There are more than 1,500 reasons to become a Transform Trustee!

1,500 is the number of clients we provide support to each year enabling them to live independent and fulfilling lives in Surrey, West Sussex, Berkshire and south-west London.

We are now looking for two new trustees to fill the very big shoes of two board members who are due to retire later this year.

This year at Transform Housing & Support we are celebrating our 50th anniversary  we have been transforming lives for more than half a century and have supported 30,000 clients during that time.

Transform has ambitious plans and we aim to continue to strengthen our activity and grow to support more clients in the future. Our services are needed now more than ever as Covid has exacerbated the adversity already faced by clients in terms of homelessness, poverty, discrimination and inequality

Do you have the skills we need?

Trustee roles are not paid but this is rewarding work and you will need a compelling connection and passion for contributing to our purpose. You will join our Board of nine Trustees to help us deliver our business plan focusing on colleagues, client experience, social and environmental impact, corporate and financial responsibility.

Both positions require someone who will develop a thorough understanding of the strategic context which we operate in, including the priorities of clients and our regulatory framework.

  1. For the first role we are looking for a person with experience of setting digital strategy to meet client aspirations and future business needs as well as to support change. You’ll have a strong understanding of the management and procurement of information and communications technology (ICT) and how we can harness systems to transform our business.

  2. The second position requires a person with experience of housing management and supported housing services at a strategic level, with insight into service delivery to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

You’ll serve an initial term of three years which may be extended for a further term.

We are committed to enhancing the diversity of our Board to ensure it is representative of the people we serve so would especially welcome applications from women, candidates from black and ethnic minority backgrounds, those with disabilities or members of the LGBTQ+ community. We recognise the importance of a diverse Board in role-modelling culture and responding to our changing environment.

Are you ready for a unique opportunity to govern an ambitious well-established charity?

Further details are available in our Trustee candidate briefing pack on our job vacancies page, including how to apply.

What do some of our current trustees feel about Transform?

Katie Wadey

Katie said that Transform had had to make a lot of changes to cope with the Covid pandemic, with perhaps fewer resources than bigger organisations.

“Transform has very quickly adapted and carried out three or four-years’ worth of technological development in an incredibly short space of time,” she said. “Being able to provide the necessary equipment, systems and processes so quickly for people to work from home, for example, has been really amazing to see.”

She added that she had been especially impressed by Transform keyworkers. “Those I have met genuinely care about clients and are not scared to support people who have more challenging issues," she said. "They are still trying to do the best job they can, which is especially needed at this time.”

Chris Deacon

Chris has been a Tranform trustee for more than eight years and said that Transform was special in its commitment to helping vulnerable people get their lives back on track. During his time on the Board, he’d had the opportunity to work with many Transform colleagues and was impressed by their work ethic, he said.

“Transform is full of talented, committed people,” Chris added. “I can honestly say that they are a joy to work with.”

While acknowledging the challenges of Covid he said he felt optimistic about the future of Transform. “Just continuing to deliver effective services through the pandemic would be a great achievement,” he said. “I’m convinced though that Transform will also continue to grow its capability and help even more people.”

Jane Bolton

Jane has also been a Transform trustee for more than eight years. In this video clip she tells us the three words that describe Transform for her.
