Enable independence and change for over 1,600 people each year: become a Transform trustee

Transform Housing & Support provides safe housing and vital support for over 1,600 homeless and vulnerable people across Surrey and surrounding areas each year.

For more than 50 years, we’ve been helping people overcome exclusion, rebuild their lives and live independently – supporting over 33,000 clients to date. You can read about some of their experiences in our client stories.

As the cost-of-living crisis intensifies, our services are more critical than ever with clients battling increasing poverty, discrimination and inequality,

We are now looking for three new trustees to help us expand our work and reach even more people in need.

Could you be one of our new trustees?

We’re looking for people with board-level experience and a genuine passion for our purpose and values. We’d love to hear from candidates with expertise in:

1. strategic finance

2. consumer/client facing

3. Legal and/or governance (preferably in social housing)

Trustees play a vital role in guiding our strategy, ensuring we deliver for our clients, and upholding strong governance. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled candidates and members of the LGBTQ+ community – because a diverse Board makes us stronger and better able to reflect the people we support.

What's in it for you?

While trustee roles are voluntary, the rewards are significant. You’ll gain:

  • Valuable strategic leadership experience
  • an induction package and ongoing training and development
  • Reimbursement of expenses, including travel, childcare/care for dependents
  • The chance to be part of a supportive and passionate Board

Most importantly, our trustees tell us that the greatest benefit is contributing to transforming the lives of the thousands of people we support.

Are you ready for a unique chance to govern an ambitious organisation?

Full details and application guidance are in our candidate briefing pack and on our website careers page.

Closing date: Monday 20 October 2025

Trustee spotlight: Katie Wadey

Katie Wadey, Chief Product and Commercial Officer for Wesleyan – a Birmingham-based financial services mutual company for doctors, dentists and teachers – became a Transform Trustee in 2019.

I am continually proud to be a Transform trustee. Our Board is lively, creative and diverse, and I’ve grown so much professionally by learning from others’ perspectives.

The most rewarding part is seeing the passion of Transform colleagues and hearing directly from clients who say we’ve changed – even saved – their lives. To know you’ve played a part in that is priceless.
