Horsell Common became a hotspot for extraterrestrial activity once again this June – but this time, it was all in aid of a good cause.
On Sunday 22 June, runners of all ages and abilities took part in the Woking Lions’ annual Martian Race, raising a fantastic £1,100 for Transform. Now in its sixth year, the event is inspired by H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds, with the race route weaving through the legendary sandpits where Martians first “landed” in the iconic novel.
Each year, the Woking Lions choose local charities to benefit from the race, and we were honoured to be one of this year’s recipients. The funds will be shared between Transform’s two Woking teams and will go directly towards supporting people in the local community who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
From wellbeing sessions and life-skills courses to clothing for job interviews and essential items that help build independence, this generous donation will make a real and lasting difference.
A huge thank you to everyone at Woking Lions for their continued support and to all the brave Martians who laced up their running shoes to make it happen!
