Bishop of Guildford appointed as Transform Patron

The Bishop of Guildford, Right Reverend Andrew Watson has been appointed a Patron of Transform Housing & Support.

In September 2014 it was announced that Bishop Andrew Watson would be made the tenth Bishop of Guildford and he was inaugurated at Guildford Cathedral in February 2015. Bishop Andrew agreed to become our newest Patron in June 2015.

When we were founded in 1972 the then Bishop of Guildford, George Reindorp, agreed to become a Patron of Transform. Since then, all subsequent holders of this title have agreed to become our Patron.

Commenting on his appointment, Bishop Andrew said:

“I'm delighted to be a Patron of Transform Housing & Support. Here is an organisation that offers practical help and support, and the precious gift of hope to some of the most vulnerable people in our community, enabling them to stand on their feet again and to reach their fullest potential. I'm much looking forward to visiting the various projects in the months to come.”

Commenting on Bishop Andrew’s appointment, Transform Chief Executive Paul Mitchell said:

“We are very pleased that Bishop Andrew has agreed to become a Patron of Transform. We are extremely grateful for the continuing support given by the Bishop and his predecessors. We work very closely with our Patrons to enhance awareness of Transform and we look forward to working with Bishop Andrew.”

In his role as Patron, Bishop Andrew will help to raise awareness of Transform; promoting the work we do. As well as being a Patron of Transform, the Bishop is involved in a number of other charitable organisations. He is on the board of the Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham and the Archbishops’ College of Evangelists. Additionally, is chair of the Church Pastoral Aid Society, the panel for World Mission and the Anglican Communion.
