Death of former Transform Chair

Former Chair of Transform Housing & Support, Dr Genny Lane MBE, passed away on Monday 24 August at the age of 85.

Genny was closely involved with Transform for nearly 20 years. She was appointed to the Board at the start of 1996 and within a year was Chair. Genny served for three years as Chair and then three years as Vice Chair. She retired from the Board in September 2007 but has since been on Transform’s Advisory Council.

Genny’s contributions to Transform and other charities were recognised in 2014 with an MBE in The Queen’s New Year’s Honours.

Paul Mitchell, Chief Executive of Transform, said:

“It was a privilege working with Genny. She was a genuine lady, who was caring, compassionate and always full of energy. We are all deeply saddened by her death and thankful for her support for Transform over the years. On behalf of Transform I offer our condolences to her daughter and family.”

“Genny was very committed to Transform, bringing gentle but strong leadership during an important period for the charity. During Genny’s time as Chair, Transform successfully completed the Capital Challenge programme, creating supported housing for 212 people across Surrey in a partnership project with local councils and other agencies. Genny was keen on trying new things – and her spirit of innovation lives on at Transform to this day.”
