Students at Epsom College have raised £500 for Transform clients in the Epsom and Reigate area.
Pupils from the Propert House voted to raise money for Transform as part of their fundraising activities for the year. The students held a popular doughnut sale at Epsom College in April, raising £390 for Transform.
On Friday 23 May, Propert Housemaster, Andy Wolstenholme, House Charity Representative, Tom Hudspeth, and Head of House, Myles Pittam, visited one of Transform’s properties in Epsom. During the visit they found out more about the charity’s work in the Epsom area and met Mark and Darren, two people that Transform has helped.
Mr Wolstenholme said:
“It was great to visit Transform and listen to the work that they do in the community. It was a real eye opener to see the social issues in Surrey and on our doorstep that they are dealing with. Thank you to the clients and staff at Transform for giving us their time and an insight into their experiences.”
During the visit Mr Wolstenholme announced that Epsom College had also made a further contribution to the charity bringing the total amount raised to £500.
Staff members Paul Travers and Sophie Charles accepted a cheque on behalf of Transform during the visit. Funds raised will provide much-needed ‘move-on’ grants to Transform clients in the area, giving them financial support to help them live independently. Examples of items funded by these grants include essential clothing, college fees and household goods or furniture.
In the Reigate and Epsom area, Transform provides housing and support for over 120 people, including people with mental health issues, people with drug or alcohol dependency, and vulnerable young people.
