Two fundraising concerts raise almost £8,000 for Transform Housing & Support.
Voices for the Homeless
Two local choirs held a joint concert at The Menuhin Hall in Cobham on Saturday 22 October, which was a complete sell out with an audience of 250 people.
The concert raised over £7,000 which will go towards our 2017 Winter Shelter campaign, helping homeless people in Elmbridge, Runnymede and Spelthorne.
Paul Mitchell, Chief Executive of Transform said:
“What a fantastic event! We are extremely grateful to all the performers for an outstanding show, to our sponsors who helped cover costs for the event and to Jonathan Lewis who did an excellent job of compereing the evening. Money raised at the event will go a long way towards supporting us to help homeless people this winter and throughout the year.”
Deborah Blowers, who was a senior housing officer in Surrey for many years, and who is a member of both choirs, helped organise the event.
“It was an absolute joy to sing knowing that we were also raising money to help those without a home. A lot of hard work went in to preparing for this event and we were delighted that it has raised so much money and has been so successful.”
Epworth Choir
Epworth Choir, based in Woking, held an exquisite concert in the superb acoustic of St Dustan’s Church in Woking on Saturday 29 October. They performed Vivaldi’s Gloria and Schubert’s Mass in G. The retiring collection raised over £500 for Transform clients in Woking.
