On Wednesday 29 June, Transform celebrated the official opening of their new ‘homes for life’ in Wallington.
The property will provide housing for people with learning disabilities in new, purpose built flats. The flats have been designed to be adaptable to accommodate the needs of each client as they get older.
To mark the opening, the Worshipful the Mayor of the London Borough of Sutton Councillor Richard Clifton, performed an official ribbon cutting, surrounded by the projects many supporters and clients.
Pear Tree Manor was funded by the Greater London Authority and the London Borough of Sutton. Transform also received a number of generous donations from charitable trusts including The James Trust and The Story of Christmas, as well as local organisations and individuals.
The event was attended by representatives from a number of different organisations who all had a hand in making the project possible, as well as clients who have now moved into the new property.
A number other VIPs were also in attendance including Mrs Gloria Clifton, the Mayoress of Sutton; Cllr Steve Cook, Deputy Mayor of Sutton and Mr Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington in South West London, and Mike Breheny from the Greater London Authority.
Councillor Richard Clifton, The Mayor of Sutton said:
"I was immensely impressed by the work Transform Housing and Support are doing to assist so many residents who, in different ways, need special support. Pear Tree Manor is an excellent example of the facilities they can provide. The quality of the accommodation is outstanding and all the residents I met seemed delighted. It was an enormous pleasure to be involved in the opening ceremony.
