John Inverdale opens Wooden Spoon Kitchen

On Tuesday 10 September Transform was delighted to welcome Surrey Wooden Spoon, including Hon. President John Inverdale, to one of our properties for vulnerable young people in Woking. Guests included Chloe, who spoke about how Transform’s support is making such a positive impact on her life.

John officially opened the new Wooden Spoon Kitchen and we are now set to teach these young people important hygiene awareness, how to cook nutritious food on a budget and learn new ways to get creative in the kitchen.

This will help them to lead a happier, healthier life as cooking is one of the most important skills a person can have whether making their own meals, cooking for friends or feeding their future children.

Weekly classes begin this week with staff supporting residents to make a healthy Shepherd’s Pie made from scratch!

This project would not have been possible without the generous donations from Surrey Wooden Spoon and Tabhair. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.
