The High Sheriff of Surrey, Dr Helen Bowcock, visited Transform Housing & Support properties in Farnham on Wednesday 22 May.
The High Sheriff met clients and staff at some of our projects for homeless and vulnerable people in the Farnham area. Transform provides homes for more than 70 people in and around Farnham. We run specialist supported housing for people affected by homelessness, drug or alcohol dependency and mental health issues.
Paul Mitchell, Chief Executive of Transform Housing & Support, said:
“We are very pleased that the High Sheriff visited Transform to find out more about our work with homeless and vulnerable people. We give people a safe place to live but we also give them one-to-one support to deal with the issues they face and build up their confidence. We empower people to live independent and fulfilling lives, participating fully in the community.”
Dr Bowcock met several clients currently living with Transform and found out more about how we have helped them. One such person was Bill, who lives in Transform’s dry and drug-free housing. Bill said of the support he has received from Transform:
“I’ve got a life now and things are looking up for me. I’m more content, a lot calmer and I don’t drink. It’s been a godsend for me because I thought I’d lost everything. I’m very grateful to Transform and I can see a future for myself now.”
