Transform renews carbon neutral status and strengthens environmental commitment

Transform Housing & Support has renewed its Carbon Neutral certification for the second consecutive year, offsetting 1,142.77 tonnes of CO2e emissions. This ensures its carbon-neutral status from February 2025 to January 2026, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and climate action.

Offsetting: A Key Step in Climate Action

Carbon offsetting allows organisations to compensate for their emissions by funding projects that remove or reduce an equivalent amount of CO2 from the atmosphere. While reducing emissions at the source remains a priority, offsetting provides an immediate solution to mitigate environmental impact.

Transform continues its partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, an organisation that helps businesses become carbon neutral by investing in global sustainability initiatives. These projects not only offset emissions but also contribute to social and economic improvements in the communities they support.

Sustaining Global Impact – Transform's offset projects

For the second year, Transform is supporting four internationally recognised carbon offset projects, ensuring its contributions make a tangible difference:

  • Salkhit Wind Farm (Mongolia): Generating clean, renewable energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while creating jobs and economic growth.
  • Nkhata Bay Cook Stove Project (Malawi): Providing fuel-efficient cookstoves that lower carbon emissions, reduce deforestation, and improve indoor air quality for thousands of families.
  • Andes Mountains Hydro Power Project (Chile): Harnessing hydropower to supply zero-emission electricity to the national grid, reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
  • Energy-Efficient Lighting Initiative (India): Distributing CFL bulbs to communities, promoting energy efficiency and lowering energy consumption.

Commitment to Net Zero

Transform’s sustainability efforts align with the UK’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050. While the UK has cut its emissions by 50%, significant action is still required to meet national targets. By taking proactive steps, Transform is playing a vital role in addressing climate change.

All four projects meet the Gold Standard, ensuring high levels of environmental integrity and sustainable development benefits.

To achieve carbon neutrality, Transform assessed its Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. These emissions arise from activities such as fuel consumption and electricity usage. While addressing Scope 3 emissions – which include those from the supply chain – will be more complex, Transform is committed to tackling them in the future.

Beyond offsetting, Transform is reducing its carbon footprint through waste reduction, home decarbonisation, sustainable construction, and creating green spaces. It also aligns its work with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring a broad and lasting impact.

By renewing its carbon-neutral status and expanding its sustainability initiatives, Transform continues to lead by example, demonstrating that businesses and organisations can take meaningful action in the fight against climate change.
