Transform wins GSK Local Health Award

Transform Housing & Support has won a GlaxoSmithKline Local Health Award.

Transform was awarded the £5,000 prize for our work with young people in the Woking area. The awards are organised by the Weybridge office of GlaxoSmithKline, to recognise success in local community-based groups involved with mental, emotional or physical health issues.

There are five winners each year, each of which receives £5,000. Transform Chair Elizabeth Kennedy and Chief Executive Paul Mitchell went to an awards ceremony to accept the prize.

The award will be used to fund group activities for young people living in Transform properties in Woking, including:

  • New tools and equipment for our Woking allotment, so more clients can get involved
  • Sports activities such as a gym club, swimming, badminton and boxing
  • Group activities and days out, such as water sports, rock climbing and walking

These activities will improve clients’ health and wellbeing, helping them become physically healthier, reducing stress, building confidence and improving communication skills.
